Dear Resident,
I am the Fine Gael local election candidate for the Kimmage - Rathmines Local Electoral Area (LEA), covering areas of Rathgar, Rathmines, Dartry, Terenure, Harold’s Cross, Kimmage and Crumlin.
Originally from Mumbai in India, I came to Ireland in the late ‘90s to join an Irish technology company as an IT consultant. I live in Rathgar with my daughter who studies at the local secondary school in Milltown, and my husband, who works locally in technology.
During my professional career, I have worked in leadership roles for many multinational tech firms. In 2018, I co-founded an IT services company with clients across the globe. I lead the UK & Ireland operations.
In 2019 I stood for local elections and was elected a Councillor in Dublin West for Fingal County Council, representing a very large geographic area with a diverse mix of people.
As a parent, I know how important it is for children and young adults to take part in activities involving physical fitness to help channel their energies in the right direction. I have been involved in local running and basketball clubs, encouraging adults and children to participate.
As someone who has lived in this area for many years, I fully understand the local issues, concerns, and needs. I will make these issues a priority in my work with Dublin City Council.
I promise to represent you and to lead with honesty, keeping you informed about issues that affect you and our local community
1. TRANSPORT
• BUS CONNECTS I know that we all have multiple concerns about the current plan. I will put together a strong representation to Bus Connects to ensure that these are addressed.
• WALKING/CYCLING Maintenance of and improvement to cycle paths, and safe crossings near schools are vital. I also want to ensure good lighting for those walking home from school, work, and at bus stops.
2. S C H O O L S A N D ST U D E N TS
• INVESTMENT We need more school places, both primary & secondary. I will be seeking funding for the improvement of infrastructure to ensure more places in our schools, which is a big concern to parents in the area.
• STEM This is a key passion of mine. We need stronger links with schools to increase the awareness and importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). I have experience of doing this by linking schools to universities. This has huge benefits for our students in the long term.
• PARKS Our children need improvements to playgrounds, parks, sports facilities and to designated community centres.
3. LOCAL NEEDS
• LOCAL BUSINESS I will work to promote and support SMEs (Small and Medium-sized enterprises) with Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) – through mentorship and support services.
• ACCESS I will work to ensure that disability enhancements are made in every area. I am a strong believer that such actions are required for societies’ commitment to inclusivity and to create equal opportunities for all.
• YOUR RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION I will work with all residents’ associations to address your concerns regarding our communities and ideas for improvement
